What are your little ones doing this summer in San Jose City?
There’s an ongoing war that’s driving living expenses up, and maybe, like me, you’re wondering if paying for summer activities for your little ones are worth it in this economy. I say they still are! But if you’re a bit short on extra cash but still wish to get your kids out of the house and be productive, here some things to do this summer in San Jose City.
The Book Nook San Jose City

Okay, first things first.
April is National Literature Month, so visit me at The Book Nook San Jose City! We have lots of books for everyone from cradle to grave. We have board books, storybooks and big books for smaller kids, comics and young adult novels, adult novels, and non-fiction. (To be honest? I rarely buy books for Sprout. I just borrow books from the Book Nook.) We even have toys for little children. Borrowing books from us is free – just bring a valid ID that has your address and a working cellphone number and/or Messenger account. The best thing is, we’re air-conditioned!
You have extra time this summer vacation? I’m also accepting volunteers for our community storytelling sessions through the Barkada sa Pagbabasa. Our volunteers have opportunities to attend awesome workshops!
Our Book Nook is open for everyone from Monday to Thursday (except holidays) from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Bible School for Kids and Youth

If your family is Born Again Christian, the City Library offers a free four-day Kiddie and Youth Bible School from April 13 to 16, 2026. Classes will be held at the 3rd Floor of our City Hall.
Pagibang Damara Festival

San Jose City LGU has just posted the schedule of activities for this year’s Pagibang Damara Festival. This is a great opportunity for your kids to learn more about our local history and culture.
Eli’s Park
Personally, I think San Jose City should have an outdoor playground in every barangay. But since that remains a dream, Eli’s Park – Pag-asa Children’s Playground at Brgy. Sto. Nino 3rd is the place to be for families with little kids. It’s free and there are lots of colorful and fun slides, swings, and seesaws, along with a place to skate. No need to pay for indoor playgrounds at the mall!
We take Sprout here on Saturday afternoons. The Sto. Nino de Belareez Roman Catholic Church is in the same vicinity so we can attend the anticipated mass after the playground session.
